Stop paying full price for a certification exam.

Exam vouchers, bundle offers and seasonal sales are announced with very little warning and expire quickly. This page lists what is live right now, with the date each code was last checked by a human.

Some links on this page are affiliate links: if you buy through them, MentorsCert may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. It never changes which offers we list or how we rank them. Full disclosure.

The legitimate ways to pay less

Everything below is offered by the certification bodies themselves or by their partners. We do not list resold vouchers, marketplace codes of unknown origin, or anything that would breach the terms you agree to when you register for an exam. A voucher that gets your result revoked is not a discount.

    Wait for a seasonal sale

The Linux Foundation discounts CKA, CKAD and CKS heavily several times a year, and bundles of exam plus training are usually cheaper than the two bought separately. If your exam date is flexible, timing alone can be the largest saving available to you.

Buy the bundle you were going to buy anyway

Exam plus course bundles, and the CKA and CKAD pair, are routinely priced below the sum of their parts. Buy the bundle only if you would have paid for the training regardless: a discount on something you will not use is not a saving.

    Attend the events

KubeCon and CloudNativeCon attendees, and participants in some CNCF and cloud provider community programmes, periodically receive exam vouchers or discount codes. Vendor conferences, certification challenges and skills events run by the cloud providers work the same way. These typically require registration ahead of time, so following the announcements matters more than looking for them afterwards.

Use the status you already have

Students, educators, non-profit staff and members of some open source programmes qualify for reduced pricing or free attempts. Employees of partner organisations often have unused internal vouchers. It is worth asking your employer before you pay personally: many training budgets go unspent every year because nobody asked.

Do not throw away a free retake

The Kubernetes exams include one free retake. Candidates who are close to ready sometimes benefit from sitting the exam earlier than planned, precisely because the second attempt costs nothing and the first one is the most accurate diagnostic they will ever get.

    What we will not do

We will not list a voucher whose origin we cannot explain, and we will not sell or transfer exam vouchers ourselves. Exam vouchers are usually issued to a named person and are not transferable. Getting a certificate revoked for a terms violation costs far more than the exam fee.
